Blog Coordinator
Reports To: Communications Director
Location: Fully remote / virtual
Time Commitment: 8–10 hours per week (flexible schedule with regular content review and team coordination)
Term: One-year renewable volunteer commitment
Position Summary
The Blog Coordinator oversees the American Solidarity Party’s official blog, serving as the primary platform for thoughtful analysis, policy discussion, member stories, and movement-aligned commentary. Blog entries are multipurposed for website, newsletter, and various social media streams, and may on occasion, be pre-shopped to selected media prior to ASP publication of such.
This role manages the full content lifecycle — from idea generation to publication — while leading a team of volunteer writers, editors, and contributors. The Blog Coordinator ensures every post reflects the party’s values, maintains high editorial standards, and contributes to the party’s visibility and thought leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Content Oversight & Editorial Standards
Establish and maintain clear editorial guidelines, voice, and quality standards for all blog content.
Review, edit, and approve all posts before publication to ensure accuracy, clarity, alignment with party messaging, and adherence to brand guidelines.
Ensure content is accessible, inclusive, and professionally presented.
Team Management & Recruitment
Recruit, onboard, and support a team of volunteer writers, guest contributors, and editors.
Provide guidance, feedback, and training to team members to help them grow as writers and communicators.
Foster a collaborative and supportive environment for the blog team.
Content Planning & Calendar
Develop and maintain a content calendar that aligns with party priorities, current events, election cycles, and ally activities.
Solicit article ideas from party leaders, state chapters, endorsed candidates, and allies.
Identify timely topics and encourage contributions that advance the party’s narrative.
Promotion & Integration
Ensure blog content is properly tagged, categorized, and optimized for search and sharing.
Integrate the blog with other communications channels (newsletters, social media, website homepage, etc.).
Performance Tracking & Reporting
Monitor blog analytics (traffic, engagement, popular topics) and provide regular reports to the Communications Director.
Recommend improvements to content strategy based on performance data and reader feedback.
Maintain organized archives and records of published content.
Qualifications
Required
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a clear, professional, and engaging voice.
Experience managing content, editing submissions, or leading volunteer teams (political, nonprofit, academic, or professional).
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple contributors and deadlines.
Familiarity with content management systems (WordPress or similar) and basic SEO principles.
Commitment to the American Solidarity Party’s mission and ability to ensure content reflects party values.
Ability to provide constructive feedback and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers.
Preferred
Prior experience running a blog, newsletter, or editorial team.
Background in political writing, policy analysis, or movement communications.
Experience with volunteer recruitment and team leadership.
Familiarity with the American Solidarity Party’s current blog, key issues, and communications style.
