Newsletter & Email Coordinator

Reports To: Communications Director  

Location: Fully remote / virtual  

Time Commitment: 4–8 hours per week (flexible schedule with regular deadlines for monthly newsletter)  

Term: One-year renewable volunteer commitment

Position Summary

The Newsletter & Email Coordinator is responsible for preparing and sending periodic emails to the American Solidarity Party’s membership and supporter lists, including the flagship monthly newsletter.  

This role plays a key part in keeping members and supporters informed, engaged, and connected to the party’s activities, values, and opportunities. The coordinator ensures all email communications are professional, on-brand, timely, and effective at building long-term loyalty and participation.

Key Responsibilities

Newsletter Production & Organization

  • Work with a team to plan, write, edit, and design the monthly American Solidarity Party newsletter.  

  • Work with a team to curate content from across the party, including updates from the National Committee, state chapters, endorsed candidates, events, and allied organizations.  

  • Ensure the newsletter reflects the party’s voice, values, and visual branding standards.

  • Maintain an archive of sent newsletters. 

Email Campaign Management

  • Prepare and send periodic emails including event announcements, urgent updates, fundraising appeals, action alerts, and other time-sensitive communications.  

  • Manage email list segmentation to ensure the right messages reach the right audiences.  

  • Maintain compliance with email regulations (CAN-SPAM, GDPR where applicable) and best practices for deliverability.

Content Coordination & Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Blog Coordinator, Campaign Archivist and other team members to repurpose and promote content through email.  

  • Solicit and edit contributions from state party leaders, candidates, and volunteers for inclusion in emails.  

Performance Analysis & Optimization

  • Track key email metrics (open rates, click-through rates, unsubscribes, bounce rates, etc.) using the party’s email platform.  

  • Provide regular performance reports and recommendations to the Communications Director.  

  • Continuously test and improve subject lines, content layout, and send times to increase engagement.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to create clear, engaging, and professional email content.  

  • Experience with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, CRMs, or similar).  

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.  

  • Understanding of email best practices, including subject line writing, mobile optimization, and accessibility.  

  • Commitment to the American Solidarity Party’s mission and values.

Preferred

  • Prior experience managing newsletters or email marketing campaigns (political, nonprofit, or professional).  

  • Familiarity with email design tools and HTML email formatting.  

  • Experience with audience segmentation and data-driven email strategy.  

  • Background in political communications or membership engagement.
