Dr. Joseph Thornton

Florida House District 10

(November 3, 2026)

Dr. Joseph Thornton is a long-time Florida resident, physician, educator, and advocate for justice and community health. A partially retired psychiatrist, Dr. Thornton has spent his career serving those most often overlooked—veterans, individuals with mental illness, and incarcerated populations. In each position, Dr. Thornton has worked to protect the vulnerable, reduce violence, and promote dignity for all. As a bioethics teacher with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, he believes new technologies must serve justice and human dignity—not replace them.

Dr. Thornton is running to bring thoughtful, hopeful leadership to Tallahassee. He is a public servant dedicated to working across divides and delivering real solutions for the people of District 10.

American Solidarity Party

We are a party that seeks the common good, on common ground, through common sense. We believe in the sanctity of human life, the necessity of social justice, our responsibility to care for the environment, and promotion of a more peaceful world. We cherish the individual rights and separation of government powers protected by the U.S. Constitution, and recognize the need for social supports and community cohesion. We seek to bridge the bitter partisan divide with principled and respectful policies and dialog.
